How to Speak to the Queen

The story of eight-year-old Nicholas, who, bored one afternoon in Prague with his younger sisters, suddenly finds himself in a small plane and embarks on an adventurous journey across England. There he meets not only Queen Elizabeth II, but also the Beatles, Peter Pan and Mary Poppins. While Nicholas soaks up the English realities while visiting Buckingham Palace, Hyde Park or the yellow submarine as it were in passing, they are laid out for the reader in lavishly illustrated encyclopedic pages. Children will discover local and cultural trivia, but also learn that, while having young siblings can often be a nuisance, it is sad to be without them — and that even someone as fascinating as Her Majesty the Queen or a Liverpool rock star cannot replace them.
