Anna Bolavá

Anna Bolavá (b. 1981) is a writer and poet who grew up in the beguiling landscape of South Bohemia, whose countryside has had a lasting influence on her writing and its strong connection to the environment. Over the years, she has worked in research, as a factory worker, a cleaner and a proofreader. She has published four novels to date. Her prose debut Into Darkness (2015) won the Magnesia Litera Award for fiction and was hailed by critics as one of the most significant recent discoveries in Czech fiction. It has been translated into ten languages.
